I voted...who wants to touch me?
Nov. 2nd, 2004 11:24 amI was voter no. 100 at my polling place. Alas, I got no sticker. I weep.
Well, I weep because I'm in pain. I still have a heck of a bad cough and my voice is kinda shattered at the moment. Ugh.
And I lost my book for my late night class, I'm going to book it back home to tear apart the house, because it has to be somewhere. Dammit.
But yeah, voting. It didn't take long at all. Maybe five minutes tops, and we have the old voting machines of yore, which are really easy to operate. I got in line, signed my name and voted, making sure I hadn't screwed up and pulled the lever.
Oh democracy, you are a sexy beast.
I had arrived at 8:20, so it was probably just after the work-rush, and I'm sure it'll pick up, even though I live in NY. There was a nice bit of people there, but no insane lines like in other places.
But yeah, if you're not voting right now? Do iiiiiit.
And anyone who voted today may request a drabble and I'll happily write one.
Because I'm really not able to write anything of substance for NaNoWriMo, mostly because I did not sleep well last night. Again.
Of course, the way to ensure me getting a decent night of sleep would be for Kerry to win. I'm just saying.

Date: 2004-11-02 04:46 pm (UTC)Instead he sits on a beaten chair in the kitchen, watching the foul weather outside, waiting for something he is quite sure will never arrive.
Until he sees Remus apparate in the lone little house upon the moors and Sirius sighs dramatically, as just the sight of *Remus* causes a flooding of memories - of warmth and of life - back into his thoughts.
"Took you damned long enough to pop by for a visit."
And Remus's tongue is unexpected but always welcome.

Date: 2004-11-02 04:39 pm (UTC)As I told Rhi, I'll be voting in the afternoon today. (Looks like we'll be getting out of work early.) If you want to amuse me, you could write a voting/election themed drabble featuring Faith. Bonus points for swearing and mentions of the Red Sox. Use whatever other characters you so desire.

Date: 2004-11-02 04:57 pm (UTC)After slaying the last of the zombies raised from the cementaries (and pet cementaries) of Ohio, Faith strolled into the polling place, climbed over the smoking corpses of the demonic poll-challengers, took out a cigarette, and asked the kindly, elderly (and not really surprised at the outcome) volunteer, "Got a light?"
As she smoked, Faith shrugged and said, "Well, I thought for fucking sure the world would end since the Sox finally won. Color me impressed."
"Would you like to vote, dearie?"
Sighing, Faith shook her head, "Can't. I'm sort of a convicted felon and all that jazz. But hey, I did my civic duty."

Date: 2004-11-02 05:08 pm (UTC)Thank ye. And here is your drabble:
"I...I shouldn't ask. Really, I shouldn't. But what in all that is good and sane in this world are you doing Sirius?"
Sirius, finally pausing in his seemingly endless twirling motion, brushes back his hair with a dignified sort of move, and says rather snootily. "I am twirling towards freedom."
"I see, so apparently someone has cast an awful hex on you." Remus sighs disappointedly and says, "You haven't been perhaps attacking Slytherins again-"
"Moony, my old wolf, how can you make such an accusation upon my person? Clearly, I'm me, otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to stop, now would I?"
"I honestly can't fanthom a single response at the moment."
"Well then," and Sirius swiftly moves closer, his lips so very close, "then the mission was damn well accomplished."
Breaking from the kiss, Remus protests, "Mission?"
"Getting you over here to snog you mercilessly."
"Oh. Oh." And Remus grins. "Good show."

I voted!
Looking forward to reading all drabbles!
Re: drabble?
Date: 2004-11-02 05:35 pm (UTC)As Remus weakly protested while his body was trapped inside the giant marshmallow, Sirius smiled brightly, his scary smile, his 'I think I'll cover Remus's head with some nice molten chocolate' smile, and said, "I've got it-"
"Please, no. Stop-"
"Oh. Fuck. I thought that would do it."
Remus stared the incredibly tight marshmallow now acting like an extraordinarily fluffy set of tight boxers. "I think I'm going to start with your hair. A lovely purtid color and make it all nice and greasy and then-"
But just then the marshmallow exploded, freeing Remus from his unfortunate and life-scarring prison. There'll be no memory charm to rid him of that.
"See, I told you it was easy to reverse. All in good fun, eh, Moony?"
"Dead," Remus promised, shoving a wad of the gooey mess into the side of Sirius's head. "You are dead."
Oh no, Sirius smiled that smile, pecked a light, airy, marshmallowy kiss on Remus's lips, and replied, "Not in this lifetime."

Date: 2004-11-02 06:07 pm (UTC)Yeah for voting. I'll be going this afternoon, right after work. I'm nervous also. For the first time ever, I believe that putting Bush back in office could put our country on a course we may never recover from.
If you'd like to write me a drabble, angsty B/A with a side of hope.

Date: 2004-11-02 07:53 pm (UTC)Your drabble:
It's a cracked wine bottle on the steps of Heaven's Gates in Florence that is the ultimate symbol of their reunion.
She stands in front of the Bapistry, her arms outstretched, the light pale and hesitant, a slowly arriving summer morning.
The doors are flung open for this is a new day, a new time, and he stands in the shadowed darkness, waiting.
The wine has stained the ground reddish and pink, the color of ebbing sunset, a slow mixing of color, lingering like the pleasant sensation of alcohol when it first buzzes about in the mind.
As he passes through Heaven's Gates, finding his way into her arms, he says, "You waited?"
A kiss on his lips, airy and fragile like the morning dew, "I knew you'd come back."

Date: 2004-11-03 02:04 am (UTC)Voter number 1 baby. *G* I was up with the birds and at town hall at 5:40 am with my mom. And no, I'm not that eager to vote...I didn't want to have to stand in lines and then be late to work.
Havne't read your fic yet, it will be a project for the weekend.

I heart NY today.
But no sticker. Sucked.
