Sat In Your Lap
Author: Regala Electra
Fandom: Glee
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: S3, Heart (mostly for reference to Blaine+Sugar friendship)
Warnings: Language, Sexual Content
Word Count: 1,252
Summary: "You have a very promiscuous lap." “It’s an equal opportunity lap.” Wherein a Kurt-and-Blaine hosted extravaganza is successful and there is intimacy and innuendo.
Author's Notes: Future!fic. For the tumblr prompt: Kurt sitting on Blaine's lap. Using a Kate Bush song title because I couldn't help myself.

“You have a very promiscuous lap,” Kurt says airily, settling into the criticized part of Blaine’s anatomy with a welcome familiarity. )

Happy birthday to meeeee. And thank you for the birthday congrats! It means a lot. <3

I am a wee bit tipsy too. I love being 29 and able to get tipsy on ONE drink. Proud moment, y'all.

So looking forward to the weekend. Ain't no party like a party all about me! :D

Freak in the Evening
Author: Regala Electra
Fandom: Glee
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine (reference to Santana/Brittany, Santana/Others, Brittany/Other, Rachel/Other)
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: AU after S2, New York
Warnings: Sexual Content, Langugage
Word Count: 3,553
Summary: She has to get out of here if only to protect herself from hearing really awkward, mushy sex. Santana stumbles into the wrong hotel room and overhears things, Sexy, spanking things. Perhaps she makes an audio recording but in her defense, she did need a new ringtone for Blaine’s calls.
Author's Notes: Hey, whatever happens in Vegas, right? A fic from my NYC 'verse, dubbed Fabulous and the City over at Archive of Our Own. Prompt: Santana walking in on Kurt/Blaine sex but doesn't interrupt the boys (I have no idea how, so have fun!) and eventually has a little chat with Blaine afterwards. Title from Freak Like Me (Sugababes). Other titles could have been "Salute Kurt's Cock" or "Blaine's Sunny Disposition on the Wonders of Cock." Thanks to [profile] ccmskatechick for reading and many thanks to [profile] fourfreedoms for the thorough beta and for making me cry with laughter thanks to her commentary.

Somebody’s brilliant decision for a semi-glee club reunion in Vegas when they were all over 21 is one of the dumbest ideas ever. Scandalous behavior was on the low and if it weren’t for Santana’s personal awesomeness, she’d bored out of her mind. )

but the radiator's so delightful
Author: Regala Electra
Fandom: Glee
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine
Rating: PG
Spoilers: AU after S2, New York
Word Count: 721
Summary: “You’re both going to fall asleep on me,” Kurt says, the woe clear in voice and Rachel would complement him on the tone but he opens up his arm and she’s not going to say no to the invitation. Kurt, Blaine, and Rachel during one winter's afternoon.
Author's Notes: A ficlet of my NYC 'verse, dubbed Fabulous and the City over at Archive of Our Own. Originally posted here on my tumblr.

By the time they’re done peeling off all the layers of their winter wear (piling it on the chair Kurt thoughtfully left next to the door before they went out for the day), they’re almost too exhausted to do much beyond gingerly walking across the room and collapsing on the couch. )

I miss posting from directly from lj but then I go to the posting page and black out in rage. SIGH.

The weather has decided to conspire against me, I've decided. While I was decently bundled up last night and today I've gone into full "fuck you winter" dress which means uh, if I were to suddenly decide to glom unto a friend's extra rush ticket to a show tonight that yep, I'm so under dressed for Broadway, it's kind of awful.

BUT. I do not want to freeze tonight. Such is life.

Things I find funny and you won't but you have to read this post to find the secret hidden pony anyway so read it:

- it is becoming a thing where the lovely group I went to see How To Succeed with always seem to end up at BBQ style place.

- boozy mint hot chocolate IS the right answer.

- having to walk past the Stage Door of DOOOOOOM almost led to me losing everyone because I tend to barrel ahead when walking in the cold and I had to GO BACK into that nightmare of tittering crazy. The things I do to enjoy the company of people I like.

- I had tater tots for dinner. I'm going to be 29 next month. What am I doing with my life?

Wait I'm doing the best thing: living the life I always wanted. At 22, during my interview for the ex-job, I was asked where I saw myself in 5 years. New York. That was my answer. The city was always the answer. 5 years later, and there I was. More than five years later, and there I want to be. I never went to concerts when I was 22. I never went to plays/musicals because money and the rare times I did as I got older, it was for Big Special Occasions and I freaked out over the money I'd spend.

I still do that: even when I'm planning out vacations that involve shelling out tons of cash, I feel bad about doing that. Saving my money, paying off all my debts, that's how it's supposed to be, maybe a nice small trinket here and there. Never doing something so lavish as going to concerts. Never going to Broadway shows. Sit at home, be content with life.

I wanted to live in New York City. I acknowledged Manhattan was out of price range before I even had a job and knew what my actual price range was going to be. God, I'm a bit of a control freak and so very boring.

I have no great ambitions. I like rooting for other people, I want the best for my friends. I'd rather my own personal happiness than fame; while I make jokes about being famous on the internet (and I'm not, at all), I have no actual desire for it.

(this is not really a segue, it's just a breather, let's all have a nice hot drink if we're in a cold place, or vice-versa.)

this is a lj cut. I talk about seeing How to Succeed. Words are spoken. )
regala_electra: (Default)
My New Year's Eve was awesome, care of Stef, who can throw a fabulous party. I celebrated the end of a year and the beginning of a new one with bacon. Ron Swanson would be proud.

Then I was super lazy and basically spent all of yesterday spacing out. Good times. I do have actual shit I need to do (in fact I just reminded myself that I need to make a call to my eye doctor) but that'll all be on hold for tonight as I'm seeing How to Succeed... and I'm disgustingly excited.

Nevermind it being freezing outside and how I should've just worn my Chucks instead of ballet flats (with heels to put on later when I'm at the theater. I shall ignore the pain as I can dress down tomorrow and be unfashionable.

Still have writing to do, remembering what shows I'm supposed to be catching up on, all that jazz. I am anti-tempted to watch the latest Sherlock episode so I think I'll do the same thing I did with the first series: wait months after it all airs to finally give a watch. That worked for me. And if anyone asks why: I have latent Moffat rage. It's best for me to experience Moffat's writings when I am in a zen space.

I don't know if I'm more excited at hanging out with some awesome folk tonight or the show. I have low expectations: I believe there will be singing and some dancing and at points, I will be amused, but I'm not like, feeling how I felt seeing Rent, since I was DYING to see Rent and it was an awesome birthday present and it was Reg's early forays into New York City. It's how I fell in love with the city and Rent's always going to be connected to that.

Tonight though? It's a Night Out With the Girls and oh hey, that performer I like is in a thing I am going to see. Sweet.

Look at all this fucking fic. Cribbing from my masterlist, which I updated since I actually missed adding a few fics so now it's all proper and shit.

cut to spare your eyes from my fucking amazing titling prowess )

Number of Stories Written: 27

Number of Words Written: 101,365

Overall Thoughts:

Damn, I had a lot of things to say about Kurt/Blaine. And I'm not done yet. I tended to have a lot more fun writing funny things and really didn't want to drown myself in writing angst unless I was writing SPN things for salt-burn-porn. Whoops.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:

I wrote a lot more than I thought I would as far as pure word count. What I would think of as definitely shorter pieces wound up averaging 5K. I still can't believe it took me 15K words to write a NYC!verse Blaine Anderson POV fic. Seriously, that was like a surprise summer mini-bigbang for myself.

I am disappointed in the stories I wasn't able to complete. I keep setting them on the backburner as I'm hopeful I'll get to them one day. There are some great scenes but they just need more and I can't open them up and stare at empty space or I'll just block myself even more.

I'm glad I never finished one of my first Glee fic ideas, tentatively titled nyu hipsters are the worst as it wouldn't have been a very satisfying story since it was not destined to have a happy or terribly fulfilling ending.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?

Welllll at the beginning of January I certainly didn't think I'd write a sequel to Ben Has Two Dads that also was a Glee crossover AND back-referenced the real sequel to BH2D that I never finished since I can't access the sequel notes on my old laptop. So. That was just ridiculous. And that damn story wrote itself. I wrote nearly 10K in ONE DAY. That never happens. (Critical moment: due to it being in Ben's POV, I think Blaine's characterization is really thin and that's totally my fault, I should've worked on that more.)

What's your own favorite story of the year?

La la la la I'm totally cheating! I love my NYC!verse so Fleet Week Follies and Karaoke Curiosities. Horribly ruined by S3 canon (Blaine being a grade below Kurt now) but it's a love letter to my city and I really loved writing the interactions between everyone in that story. Rachel Berry was the first character I fell in love with on Glee and it was great writing her interacting with Kurt and Blaine. I really love writing Blaine+Santana scenes and Kurt's POV was a blast to write, as is any iteration of drunk/stoned Blaine.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

Writing the POVs of homophobic characters in Where Are We Now terrified me. Not because I thought I wouldn't be able to do it well, after all, it's rather easy to tap into hateful things you've heard and witnessed and relate that to a focused story of nasty groupthink and bullying, but man, I was terrified that I was going to get some hate for that fic.

Post-Prom Queen, the hurt/comfort fics always focused solely on the Glee characters we knew so well and I was playing around with a couple of random glorified extras and original characters and building a bigger story that fucking hurt to write. And I got amazing feedback for it. So my lesson is that sometimes I need to trust that I can tell a story even if I'm unsure of the eventual reception. I mean, there were some fantastic fics written in reaction to Prom Queen. I'm still stunned that so many people enjoyed my fic.

Does anyone know if there are any "year in fic" reviews out there? I wanna talk about all the fic I managed to write this year. Because I am nothing if not a raging egomaniac.

You know I really, really love my mom considering I took her into the heart of tourist hell on Christmas Day: Times Square, Bryant Park, AND Rockerfeller Center. I finished off that evening with a lot sangria as it beer'd me strength.

But hey, it was her request, my sister Johnny got a really cute Nightmare Before Christmas necklace at one of the shops set up in Bryant Park, and we had delicious food.

My paella came out awesomely on Christmas Eve. I had to carry the paella pan and all the ingredients across the street to my grandparents' place as we're redoing the kitchen at my mom's house and still even with that silliness, the rice was not fucked up. My mom even texted me last night to let me know the last leftovers were just as excellent. Hee.

Quiet week at my office which I like. It'll be not that way once everyone comes back after New Year's. It gives me a breather to think about things and naturally I have this fic idea I'm plugging away it. I'd like to finish it and pester my betas to make it not-suck. We'll see how it goes. Over 7,500 words and that's barely the first part. Lordy.

I just realized I have no clue what's going to happen when I see How to Succeed on January 3rd. I should probably send out an email tonight all "so what's the plan then, eh?"

Taking this from [personal profile] musesfool:

Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011?
True Blood. Just. Fuck that entire season, fuck that show, fuck Alan Ball for not getting the fun potential of it all and making the show become a bloated exercise of wasted characters. They took my favorite book from the series and completely went off the rails and destroyed some of my favorite characters (I'm not talking about Eric here) for pointless storylines that went nowhere.

The season ended with the queer and POC characters having no agency or winding up dead. Congratulations. I hate you.

Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Why?
The Eleventh Doctor's run. One day I'll watch it. One day.

Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2012?
...I don't have any yet. :-/ Any suggestions?

Which TV show impressed you least in 2011?
American Horror Story. Hot mess. Reminded me of the bad times between me & Nip/Tuck. Stopped watching it a few eps back. Don't regret my decision at all.

Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2012 unless things significantly improve?
The Walking Dead. I haven't seen the last couple of episodes because save for like, 2 of "our heroes" I sort of want everyone to become zombified and GO AWAY.

Which TV show impressed you the most in 2011? Why?
Parks & Rec, followed by Community. P&R is a show where actions matter, where being a good person is rewarded (and not always in an expected way), where friendships are important. Stable relationships whether or not they are romantic are seen as a GOOD thing and worth cultivating and everyone gets to interact. The main two friendships on the show are solid. "Leslie loves Ann more than Ben." [cut to Ann's pleased smile] Also, it's one of the most feminist shows I've ever seen and Leslie Knope is the best female character on TV as of late.

Community took some amazing risks in storytelling in 2011. It honestly blew me away several times. I think S3 suffered a little by daring to make Jeff so unlikeable and unbalanced and I hope they get to come back because man, they earned it. For the Glee mocking episode alone. I need to know how they'll do at Regionals, man!

Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
I have a pretty low limit for shitty shows so I don't think anything qualifies here. Once my patience is worn, it's gone for good.

Shows I watched and loved that aren't mentioned on this list because I started them in another year.
Mad Men. So happy it'll be back next year.
Er, I watched Game of Thrones this year but it didn't qualify for anything above, so yeah, going to watch that next year for sure.

Your main fandom of the year?
Glee, lol. That show is a hot mess but it's got some compelling characters and canonical gay couples that I adore.

Your favorite film you watched this year?
Welp, Sherlock Holmes for now because JESUS, there was no subtext at all. The Muppet Movie was pretty great too.

Your favorite book read this year?
GOD, I am the worst when it comes to reading, I've just been rereading shit. Um, I really enjoyed World War Z.

Your favorite tv show of the year?
Parks & Rec!

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Avengers Tony/Steve movieverse fic. There is some awesome fic out there.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
I...tend not to be disappointed by fandom when it comes to fannish stuff? I mean beyond the usual "so and so is being a dick or gross" drama or "that's now how sex works" my ~feelings on writing porn opinions.

Your fiction boyfriend of the year?
Mike Chang. We can be judgmental about Channing Tatum's career together. Then he'll take me dancing.

Your fiction girlfriend of the year?
It's very late in the year but I think I'm dating Sugar Motta right now. Since Korra is already engaged to half the internet and her show hasn't even started yet.

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Kurt/Blaine finally getting together. The Kiss Heard 'Round Tumblr. I wish I didn't get spoiled for it, my own fault for tooling around Tumblr prior to watching the episode (it was spoiled less than an hour before the ep aired) but holy fuck, the Kurt/Blaine parts of that episode are golden.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
That I will write fic that doesn't suck and that I will get to read awesome fic. That's all I can ask for as far as fandom. With regards to anticipation, oh god, Tom Hardy in a Batman movie. I don't know what to expect.

I will probably lose my shit during The Dark Knight Rises or The Hobbit. I expect The Avengers to be a popcorn flick, hopefully with lots of slash potential.
regala_electra: (Default)
Greeting from the great nation of testing to see if this shit works.

I realize a) I have no control over icons at lj when posting from dreamwidth and b) I have no icons uploaded at dw and oh god, I should probably buy icon space, it's how I express myself.

Advice on update platforms that crosspost would be awesome, I know a few of you have mentioned using them in the past but I of course cannot remember them. If they work with Safari that would be extra-awesome because I use Safari at work and home rather than Firefox because reasons.
regala_electra: (dean hates you by ignited)
Okay, so LJ's latest "update" is kind of the end of the line for me. Plus their refusal to understand why their update is completely broken and ruins the ability to interact via comments is another moment of wow, you guys are fucking pricks.

I'm doing another import at my dreamwidth account and I'm considering mirroring from there when I make posts because this fuckery is too much.

Comments at my lj are set up with my layout style. SORRY YOU'LL HAVE TO SEE THE WINCHESTERS BRO-ING IT UP.

I'm regala_electra at dreamwidth. I do have a twitter but it's fairly locked down, if we know each other IRL, of course I'll add you back. Obvious I'm on tumblr too but like that comes with some warnings: a) I use it to interact in glee fandom and b) I will sometimes talk about spoilers for upcoming episodes and they aren't always cut behind a read more.

A user of the site since 2003 and paying customer since 2004

ETA: It's going to take me quite a while but I will attempt to put all of my fic on Archive of Their Own as well. All my Glee fic is up there as well as a few SPN fics. Oh yay, a project I don't have time for! It's not like I'm busy for the next two months or anything.
regala_electra: (blaine dnw by niniblack)
Obviously you know I have a tumblr where I post glee stuff on the regular in the hope of making you guys not hate me because I can't shut up about glee things. (It is also not spoiler-free but pretty safe at the moment, still, tread lightly.)

Anyways, I don't know if you've gathered but I'm a touch sarcastic and prone to making jokes, especially at the expense of my fannishness. I mock the things I love most of all. So today Darren Criss did a one minute spot on the Today Show and Tumblr had photos and video up ASAP. He even tweeted about it and I saw a screencape of his tweet come across my dashboard several times this morning.

One photo that came up? Was posted by The Today Show's official tumblr with a hilarious tag and "oh, hello beautiful." I responded to my friend's reblog with the following, inspired by wise words that Jesse Tyler Ferguson once said in regards to Darren Criss: ahahahaha OMG. Everyone turns into a besotted teenager with a Trapper Keeper full of doodles of “Mrs. Darren Criss” apparently.

Lols were had, I went on to do other things, and then I see THIS on my dash: NEWSWEEK freakin' joins in on the fun:

Today Show responds to the back and forth comments (PUTTING MY COMMENTS ON THEIR TUMBLR WTF):
We’re just doing what you’re already thinking.

Media tumblrs: WE ARE PEOPLE TOO!

Okay, so, pretty hilarious and sort of fourth wall breakage/is this real life (WHAT IS MY LIFE) reaction from me. FIne.

Wait, we're not done yet. I see on my dash that BILLBOARD has reblogged one of my posts. (it only shows up when someone reblogs directly from you, so they went to me and not via someone else.) You see, that tweet Darren made? It was screencapped and going around Tumblr. Another of my friends had reblogged it after the Today Show/Newsweek reblogs about how the media's fangirling over Darren and because I'm an ass I wrote up a response to it. A very sarcastic response and joked about Billboard's fangirl crush as well.

Naturally I responded back to them because I am polite and considerate.

This has been my day. Quite dignified. I shall conclude it with dinner and a movie. The odds of me running into a celebrity in Chelsea are pretty high at this point considering the above and how I am clearly fated for the most WTF of days, hope I don't make any dick jokes in their presence.
regala_electra: (dcriss don hill by hurricanesky)
LJ, one day I'll remember to post things when they happen and not days later. So like, hi it's t-minus omg it's Christmas this weekend, I am not prepared, holy shit.

This is what happens when you are profoundly stupid and keep thinking you have another week. LOL NOPE. I need to write out a list of shit I need to do for the next couple of days and maybe get a few things on track.

But then, there was this weekend, which involved homoerotic tales on the big screen (Sherlock Holmes I AM SO GLAD I STAYED UNSPOILED, THAT WAS MAGICAL), an entertaining dog who needed all the attention, LOTR behind the scenes viewing, a visit to a tattoo parlor (my second time watching one of my friends getting tattooed, and oh, the hilarious conversations we had), and oh, yesterday, I got to see this guy perform at a concert for a little over 100 people and it was pretty damn awesome.

There were cupcakes, and vodka, and I got some AWESOME video of the whole thing although SIGH not the whole concert because I haven't taken off all my Disney photos on my memory card so I could only record about 20 minutes.

AND I'M SORRY BUT I GOT TO HEAR DARREN AND CHUCK PERFORM TOGETHER. That's all I never knew I wanted for Christmas. ;_;

This is probably the best picture I took using my phone since I didn't have the flash on. Some people had like, super serious cameras and got way better pictures than me.

in which I ramble about an incredible little concert I didn't even think I would get to see )

Strange day, GREAT day, hell of a way to end/start the year. 2010 ended rough with a few glimmers of hope on the horizon, 2011 has been filled with amazing experiences and wonderful friendships.

Sorry to get all squishy, but like, whether we've known each other for years, or have only just become friends, I am just so fucking grateful for y'all. Seriously.
regala_electra: (kurt/blaine sing by niniblack)
So yesterday was the low point of being sick and I was pretty sure i was going to be voiceless by the time I met up with [ profile] fourfreedoms for dinner. However I was able to talk (though I did bring post-its as a hilarious backup plan). Instead I nearly screwed up everything by forgetting to print the tickets to see The National and by going to the wrong restaurant.

Yeah, I'm smooth. But it was all sorted out, delicious mint tea was had, a visit to Kinkos happened and we made our way to the Beacon Theatre. I really wish I had felt 100% as my energy levels dropped hard once they took to the stage but I really did enjoy myself. The seats were awesome and the opener was great even if her banter was a bit awkward.

Then I made my way home, cold meds depleted and [ profile] memphis86 convinced me to watch Glee's Christmas episode before I went to bed.

Two things before I dive under the cut with rambling thoughts: a) I have the internet on my phone so I knew Tumblr fandom was in a tizzy about a scene being cut out of the ep and b) Community's episode Regional Holiday Music is the best Glee Christmas episode OF ALL TIME.

Extraordinary Merry Christmas aka that Time We Learned Blaine Has Roleplay Fantasies about Santa Fucking Him, No Really, Listen to the Lyrics )
regala_electra: (yes to funny hats by rae)
This video is so perfect I can't. I CAN'T. Damn you, [ profile] loony_moony for brining it to my attention!

Best 4:30am decision ever.

(sidenote: I can't believe SNL is STILL running on the 70s era practice of pulling an all-nighter to get sketches done. For fuck's sake.)
regala_electra: (dcriss rope climbing by niniblack)
So basically I have spent every day watching Regional Holiday Music because when Community rips on Glee it is the most beautiful thing ever.

Spoilers Really Care About Regionals and Doesn't Want to Screw This Up )

Other things: I think people who grew up enjoying The Muppets should go see the latest movie. I went for a second time with my sister Johnny and my mom, as they hadn't seen it yet. Had such a good time and it was a great followup from our November Disney trip, since IMHO, the Muppets 3D movie at Hollywood Studios is still one of the best 3D movies out there and it's over ten years old (if not fifteen).

Ooh, my not-so-secret love affair with Once Upon a Time continues!

So Once Upon a Time? Definitely hooked. As I'm not a fan of Lost, I have some reservations about multi-season long story building, but I think this first season is looking good so far.

Y'all, I am a sucker for fairytale retellings. Without any shame, I own The Tenth Kingdom on DVD and yes, I have watched it a disgusting number of times.
