First of all, I'm going to quote one of my favorite Treehouse of Horror episodes from The Simpsons:

Kodos-Clinton: "My fellow Americans. As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball, but tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward, upward not forward,
and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom."

So This is My Post about Voting. And twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.

Confession: I have never voted before. I am 21 years old. Yup, that means I was a year too young to vote in 2000 and that I didn't vote in 2002. I didn't register in time for 2002.

I registered in time to vote in the primaries this election season. And I voted Kerry.

My vote isn't going to change, but the reason for it will. When I voted then, I was voting for 'anyone but Bush' and felt Kerry would be the best candidate. Of course as I live in NY, it really didn't matter, Kerry was all but chosen as the democratic candidate by the time Super Tuesday came around.

Now? I'm voting for Kerry. So very much. It was the debates that sealed the deal, but I honestly do think he'll do a much better job as president of the United States than the four years that Bush has had as president.

[livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen said it far better that I ever could. So I direct you to her awesome post about it.

So I'll just say this: If you can vote, do vote.

[And er, it would be a really good idea to vote Kerry, unless as [livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen pointed out, you have a damn good reason to vote Bush]

Oh man, just vote Kerry so that I can one good solid night of sleep.

Other News: Started writing for NaNoWriMo. I've set up a filter for those who want to read it, so if anyone missed my post yesterday, you just have to comment to be added to it.

Back to Voting: C'mon, seriously, your vote does count this time. Our voices do have to be heard, especially now.

We must continue to twirl towards freedom. Little American flags for all. ;-)

I completely agree with everything you said.

I'm 25. This is the first time I'll be voting in a presidential election. I was living in England in 2000 and didn't get my paperwork started in time.

This time there's no way I'm not going to vote.

Incidentally, I'd like to be on your Nano filter, since I'm joining in the madness too. *g*

::hugs:: Good luck tomorrow! If I didn't have to hand in a paper, I'd be home, freaking out with the rest of you. I'm taking a walkman with me so that I can keep up to date.

Also, I saw no such Nano post. But I'd like to be on the filtre.
