Oh bitch, bitch, bitch
Oct. 7th, 2004 11:24 pmTM Grandpa Abe Simpson.
So, today. Today I woke up at 7:30 A.M. With an incomplete paper on my laptop. For my 9:25 A.M. class.
Oh my fucking god. I quickly did an edit and finished off the conclusion, managed to get by my mother as she yelled at me for several things so I could print my paper out, take a shower, and get into the car, ready for the traffic.
And stupidly, I stopped off at a Starbucks. Tried the Caramel Apple Cider. Which is totally made of apple juice, but it was still pretty good.
However, I got stuck at the LONGEST railroad crossing EVER. OH MY FUCKING GOD.
By the time I finally got to campus, I was very nearly running late. I grabbed my books and my drink and made my way halfway across campus...
Where I realized I LEFT my paper in my fucking car.
Garrr.
So I had to run back, pick it up and get into class.
Late by five minutes.
But the best part? THE VERY BEST PART?
I completely fucked up and forgot that my oral report was due today. And I was not prepared at all to deliver it. And had to admit it. In front of the whole class. And my professor was actually nice to me because I was very "contrite" (her exact word), so I'll do it on Tuesday, but oh my god, I suck sooo much.
I was so focused on writing (and er, not writing) the paper that I completey forgot about my report.
And at work, one of the partners is leaving the firm and she asked me to go with her when she leaves. But while I've worked quite a bit with her (especially while she was in the process of hiring a new paralegal), er, I'm not as fond of her as I am of the other attorneys. And I really like working in that office space. So I told her I'll think about it, but the other attorneys haven't approached me at all and I'm worried that they don't want me to work there anymore and that I'll have to either go with the one attorney or it'll be time to update my resume.
Fuckity-fuck.

In other news, The Apprentice was disappointing, I don't care about Survivor, and my ox remains broken.
But in positive news, I wish everyone on my friend's list a happy birthday, or belated birthday, as I am terrble with keeping up with these things.
Yes, every single person, today is all of your birtdays. Congradulations.
But particularly
a2zmom,
callaxx, and a belated birthday wish para
indiefic.
If I've forgotten someone, I'll, I dunno, flash you or something. Write you fic. Take out my giant yellow smiley costume and dance to "Put on a Happy Face."
And
nariya has to call me cuz we totally need to hang out.

Date: 2004-10-08 05:14 am (UTC)Facts:
You love where you work. You like the people there. You want to stay.
This chick offered you a job. She has faith in you and unsolicited, asked you to follow her but you'd rather stay with the other people.
Therefore....
So the piece that's missing is whether or not the place you are currently at wants you to continue. Is it on the DL that she wants you to go with her (or that she's even leaving)? If not, I'd arrange a meeting with your boss and lay it straight out: you love working there, you'd love to stay, you've been offered another job but you'd prefer to remain. Do they want you to stay? Being straightforward will likely get you a straight answer and then you'll have the information you need to go forward.
I think these situations are always less political and more practical than they may seem outright. At least in my life they've played out that way.
Good luck.

Date: 2004-10-08 01:58 pm (UTC)Say WHAT? I would be very troubled by that. And the fact that the partners are leaving, I would take that as a sign that maybe things are not going as they should.
I know there's a risk involved, but if you're not risk-averse, I'd suggest that you seriously considering the move.
