Shout-out to any TAR fans out there. I'm PACKIN' it, babe, I'm PACKIN' it.

So here's why I love the Daily Show:

Semi-boring interview with Gwenyth Paltrow, as she totally sucks. Then John asks her, as he has a newborn son and she has a newborn daughter, "so I was thinking, maybe my son could" [here I think: oh, he's going to ask for Nathan to date Apple. How twee] "bang your daughter."

OH MY FUCKING GOD. I was dying. Gwenyth looked shocked and man...I was laughing so freakin' hard. That was awesome.

Memeish:

I'm declaring it International Recommend-A-Movie Day. This means everyone should go to their LJ right now and tell their friends to watch a really good movie which most of them probably have not seen. And then tell more people to do it. Hopefully, we'll all have lots and lots of recommendations by the end of the day.

Grosse Point Blank

John Cusack's finest role in the 90's. He plays a hired killer who's lost the taste for the game and decides to go to his high school reunion. Only problem is that he freaked out and joined the army on his prom night, ditching his girlfriend (Minnie Driver, and she's fantastic in this, y'all) and pretty much disappearing without a trace. Plus Jeremy Piven is in this. The Piven is awesome.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

Clueless Gary Oldman! Tim Roth! Riffing on Hamlet! Play-withing-a-play-within-a-play. Within a play "I've frequently not been on boats." "You had me confused." "We were send for." Dammit, just see it. Gary Oldman in bath! What else can I say to get you to see this movie?

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

I really enjoy this, even though it's totally not true. It's a neat idea and George Clooney did a pretty good job directing this in my unwashed masses opinion. Plus Sam Rockwell has a great ass. And he shows it a lot.

Muriel's Wedding

Such a fucking awesome movie. "You're terrible, Muriel." Toni Collete rules. It's not a happy movie, in fact it deals with some very dark stuff and there's a lot of angst and heck, there are some uncomfortable scenes, but overall, it's a wonderful movie.

Heavenly Creatures

Oh wow. So fucked up. So horrifying. So damn pretty. This is Kate Winslet's first movie ever, and my god, she's fabulous. Peter Jackson did a fantastic job with this movie, I was really impressed.

Tell me how to get it? Everyone says this is fantastic, but I'm not sure how to get ahold of it. :(

I taped it off one of many cable movie channels now available in my room (eyes glaze over in joy), so I know it's in rotation, but I'm not sure when it's airing.

It's probably out on video, but not on DVD, so I'm not sure if it's going to be videostores. I'm so very helpful, aren't I?

I will try to find you an answer beyond, "I am an idot."

I don't know, being an idot sounds pretty interesting. Is it sort of like being an M&M? Small and nondescript roundness, but essential to the universe as we know it?

Hee, yes, it's very universal and demands wacky and wild spelling mistakes.

Jon Stewart is my god. He should be everyone's god. That line was priceless.

I can't make a witty comment right now because I am too busy having visual sex with your icon.

Mmmh, box turtle Jon.

I loved the box turtle shout-out on the Cooter report by Ed Helms. "And I couldn't wait to fuck that box turtle." Hee.

It is very shareable, all you have to do is credit [livejournal.com profile] kimiwo.

But I loves TDS. So much.

You know. I think I will. Thank you! Or thank... kimiwo. Or whoever ought to be thanked. Yes. I need sleep.

Hee, it's an awesome icon. It was a brilliant bit on the show.

I love Jon. I would definitely bang him.

I've seen parts of Grosse Point and parts of Muriel's Wedding, and liked both. I may have actually seen all of Grosse Point Blank, but been in some sort of... headache daze and so though I do remember liking it a lot, I only vaguely remember the movie itself.

Tapes R&G Are Dead off TV today and have to watch because I'm obsessed with Oldman.

The other two I've wanted to see for awhile. No one would go see Confessions with me and now every time it's on TV I always catch it halfway through. :( I'll see it eventually... of course, I always say that.

Confessions is fab. If you have all of Starz, it'll be on again at er, 12:20, on StarzT. I enjoy it especially because of Sam Rockwell's ass. Heh.

Grosse Point Blank has some amazing moments in it and one of the best 80's soundtracks ever.

Muriel's Wedding kinda needs to be seen from beginning to end, when I rewatched it after my first viewing, I started from the middle and was very, "WTF?"

From: [identity profile] raelala.livejournal.com
See, it's 12:38 and I just saw this, so I've already missed 18 minutes. I think someone is trying to keep me from Rockwell's ass this movie.

I just looked at the soundtrack for Grosse Point Blank at Amazon. Dude, I can't believe I don't own either volume. What the hell?

I am apparently unable to type tonight. I am sorry. I even ruined my own little strike through on Rockwell's ass thingie. *feels shame and humiliation*

There is no shame to be felt about not being able to strike Rockwell's ass. Now, I'd rather tap that ass, but what have you...

;-)

I absolutely, absolutely, must see R&G. In fact, I've wanted to see it for about five years now. And now that I love not only Gary Oldman, but Tim Roth, I don't know why I haven't yet.

I own Confessions. I've had it for about a year. And I haven't watched it yet. What's WRONG with me??? Rockwell's ass, you say?!?!?!?!? I'll watch it tomorrow! ^______^

As for my movie, I must recommend The Usual Suspects. It's just... gah. One of those movies that I can watch over and over and over. Everything's so compact and precise. I love it.

From: [identity profile] regala-electra.livejournal.com
Yes. Rockwell's ass. A lot of his ass. He is both sexy and ugly in the movie. And George Clooney is impossibly hot with a huge mustache.

R&G is like porn for me. Because I'm a total Hamlet fangirl. So it's total word porn. Oh my god. It so is.

The thing that sucks about The Usual Suspects is that I'm totally spoiled for the end, which kinda sucks and makes me not want to watch it because I won't be able to suspend that knowledge.

Date: 2004-09-17 05:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] shetiger.livejournal.com
Oh watch it anyway. There's a lot going on with it, and knowing the end just adds to it. Though it does suck that you're spoiled.

I think I will. Thanks.

OMG, yes, watch it. My mom just watched it for the first time tonight, and she knew about halfway through how it was going to end, and she still loved it. Even though you already know, that's ok. A lot of people who have no idea going into the movie figure it out before the end.

If you're going to see it for anything, see it for the great story. It was my favorite movie for a LONG time, until Kill Bill took reign. But, that's because I am a Tarantino Whore.

I laughed my ass off as well. In fact, I almost posted that in lj and then I thought, 'I bet regala is gonna post this tonight'. When I saw your lj cut I just knew it!

Jon is the man.

Hee, great mind, eh?

I just COULDN"T believe he said that to her. Oh my god. It was perfect.

She was so horrifed.

HEE!

Oh, man, I love Gross Point Blank! It's one of my top ten favorite movies. Not only is it Cusack's best 90s performance, but it might be Minnie Driver's best performance.... ever. We all love the Piven (I think he and Cusack should be in every movie together), but you neglected to mention the out-of-control, over the top manic glee that is Dan Akroyd in this movie.

Also, Heavenly Creatures? Possibly one of the most fucked up movies I've ever seen and wanted to watch again.

And Muriel's Wedding. Oh, you're a girl after my own heart. Toni Collette is so, so great in it, she just breaks your heart.

Now I want to watch all these movies.

From: [identity profile] regala-electra.livejournal.com
Oh, I can't believe I didn't mention Akroyd. Yes, he was immense in the role. And Hank Azaria! And Mr. Trick (totally revealing I don't know the actor's name)! And Joan Cuscak!

Great cast, and total word about Minnie Driver. She was fantastic in that movie.

Yay, someone else likes these movies! *huggles you*

I've seen all these movies except R&G (Which I've seen on stage, does that count?). You have excellent taste.

I wish I'd seen Jon Stewart. That is priceless.

The stage counts. The stage counts a lot. I almost outed myself as shameless fangirl in my Spenser class when my prof mentioned R&G. Heh.

Oh, it really was priceless. Jon couldn't believe he said it either. It was beautiful.
