Today is a day that calls for fine dining and a dignified visit to a shots bar. I plan on wearing an invisible monocle. I should also put on some makeup to look presentable but I'm too busy melting in my office.

Yesterday, Glee fandom finally broke the last straw of zen I had left and I posted a rant on Tumblr regarding Blaine Anderson's ethnic background and how I will not stand for people saying it's just simpler if the show presents him as completely white (and having two white parents). A quick note to the .5 people who go to that link, my Tumblr is not spoiler-free but that post certainly is; just don't go to my main page since there may have a couple of posts up regarding upcoming episodes/spoiler speculation (as well as spoilers for other shows - I tend to reblog gifs of episodes that recently air).

It was validating to see that other people got me, because god, it's not going ruin the fucking show if a half-Asian character gets to stay half-Asian. I just cannot handle the "but he LOOKS white" nonsense.

I was a lot angrier yesterday, now I'm pretty calm but this is a surefire way to get me into a rage and man, ignorant people sure do like to blather on this subject like they're goddamn authorities. (And they are almost always white people who just have no idea how offensive they're being.)

On to other TV things:

Didn't watch Project Runway last night. Will at some point this weekend. This is not really a very amazing group of designers and I feel the winner was basically picked from the start of the season. Meh.

I saw Community late last night and Parks and Rec in the morning. Both made me believe that we are living in excellent times if you are a fan of awesome comedy. I also think P&R is probably the most feminist-positive television show I've ever had the honor to watch. Female friendships are valued! Women can be friends with men and not have ~sexual tension. Women are happy single or in a relationship but neither has any significant bearing on who they are as a person!

In conclusion, I want to be Leslie Knope when I grow up.

That asshattery is one of the main reasons I avoid TWoP like the plague. Too much stupid, too much hate. I can't believe people are saying it would RUIN the goddamn show if he has a Pacific-Islander parent.

Community is astoundingly clever - meta in meta = I LOVE IT, and Parks and Rec is freaking perfection for all reasons you say. +1

One day I'll break my TWOP addiction. One. Day. (I feel Demian is the one who'll do it; he's pissed me off several times in the past, some of his offensive recaps of SPN come to mind, to say nothing of the shit he says about Kurt in his recaps.)

There's just so many problematic things with stating unease about Blaine not being 100% white and the sad thing is that I think most people don't even realize how fucking awful they're being. It is actually BETTER to have characters who are reflective of the world as it is and no one's going to be CONFUSED by it. It's like, concern troll anti-racism bullshit. "Well I'm worried Glee will make jokes about him having an Asian mom." Oh my god, no. Just no. Leave your stupid comments in your pocket.

Community's meta is brilliant. I am so impressed by last night's episode. Apparently they did reshoots just to make sure the continuity carried over - hence that little "I thought it was 303/304" joke because the episode order was switched.

My whole goal with HDJM is to be the OPPOSITE of TWoP - no shitty hating on shows. Why the hell watch someone if you hate it? We've had an influx of readers for SPN, all sick of Damien. Yeah, he's a dick. I didn't know he was doing Glee, I'm almost afraid to see what he has to say about Kurt - because I wanna cut a muhfuh.

I just...who the hell in this day and age that watches GLEE for crissakes feels "unease" about something as stupid as a mixed-raced/multi-ethnic character? And lol, Glee makes fun of everyone. Not always well, but...idiots.

I still haven't watched last night and I've been scurrying around trying to get things done so I can finally enjoy it. I love hearing when people CARE ABOUT CONTINUITY, OMG.

Isn't it just the greatest? Everyone is so likable. I think Tom is my least favorite of the regulars and that's only because of rare occasions; he's done awesome things for his friends too.

Holy smokes. Did I suddenly time travel? In what universe are mixed-race people "confusing?" Great post, I did go to your tumblr to read it.

I admit I didn't know Criss' mom was Filipino, but then I never know anything about anyone. But it certainly wouldn't be confusing to me to find out he's mixed race. I just...I really don't understand. Only absolutes on this show, or something? We've got the white kids, the black kids, the asian kids, and the 'hispanic' kid (there really only is Santana, isn't there, for that?), so we're covered, phew!

In a universe when people overthink a song and dance show that has a tendency to use the actors' RL backstories for the characters. A few of Kurt's storylines are inspired by Chris Colfer's life, such as the Defying Gravity song; Colfer always wanted to sing it in school and was never allowed. Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) always wanted to be a dancer and his parents initially didn't think that was a good career path. I thought it was kind of lovely that the end of Mike's storyline in S3 is the implication that Mike may go on to teach dance one day; in RL, Harry works with the League of Extraordinary Dancers and does some amazing work with them.

I stated in a later post regarding Santana, the only Hispanic character, how I'm sometimes a bit miffed that we don't even know her nationality, however I'm not going to be insulted if she's referenced as being Puerto Rican just because the actress is (Naya is half Puerto Rican).

Here are a few links to Darren's adorable happy family since that cheers me up: The Criss Parents with Darren (http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lt37gv7zpk1qgu1tvo2_500.jpg) and Winners of Most Adorable Family Award (http://errantlight.tumblr.com/post/11480019485/mins80-adorable-family-is-adorable). Darren's brother is in a band and is also ridiculously talented.
