I won't give you the context of this because laws were being gently bent:
So, my dear
raelala has personalized ring tones for those of us who are worthy and shockingly I merit my very own. As we both love Dexter, I do my best Doakes impersonation and it's basically me going Surprise motherfucka!
It would have been fitting for the sudden call I needed to make to her during a bit of a situation however
ignited had to make the call but don't worry, it also worked since hers is a Beatles song wherein all Stef says is bang bang shoot shoot.
So appropriate but damn, I really wish I'd made the call. Surprise Doakes is all we need. Fuck love.

Yesterday there was watching of Pride & Prejudice, excellent company, and a rather relaxing night.
Tonight I will beer myself the strength to finally watch the first two episodes of True Blood S4. I am allowed to make pointless rants about my irritation with the show should I feel that way after watching the eps.

Musing while watching concert videos:
If, during a live performance, the singer is clearly doing an arrangement not at all similar to the studio recording that you, the audience member, is familiar with then perhaps you ought to stop singing along.
Not every damn song is an invite for a sing-along. When you drown out a special guest singer during his or her part because OMG YOU TOTALLY KNOW ALL THE WORDS you're kind of being a jerk. When the singer ASKS you to be quiet, please listen to his or her request.
You can't sing while recording. You can't. Your mouth is the closest thing to the damn recording device you're holding and it is unpleasant to hear off-key screeching during a slow song.
I long for 21+ shows because so many woefully lack concert etiquette and with age, comes alcohol.

Remember how I'm judgy? Yep.

The next two months are my least favorite part of summer. Can't it be 70 degrees again?
Yet I keep dressing in expectation of my office being freezing. It isn't and now I am woefully overdressed. No me gusta.

This is a post of asterisks.

Pretty sure my iPod Nano (second generation) is dying. I charge it, it seems okay, turn it on, listen it it, it works fine, go to turn it off, and it appears it's off but when I go to turn it back on, it's dead (drained or just the little grey screen of gloom). I'm not interested in buying a new iPod at the moment and not sure if I'll get any help resurrecting the little iPod that could. Bleh.

Tell me about your weekend plans. I am planning on IRL ignoring people in person. It's the best.

ETA:
In OH DEAR COMIC CON news, the largest room is going to have, back to back, panels on Glee, Supernatural, Doctor Who.
Many pink wayfarers shall be crushed underfoot in the battle for seating.

Lengthy :P
Date: 2011-07-08 12:15 pm (UTC)As much as I would hate 21+ gigs (all the 18+ ones I can't get into now are enough, thank you XD), they'd probably be a MUCH better way to enjoy music properly. I mean, people don't have to be dead silent the whole time, but LET THE PEOPLE YOU ARE PAYING TO HEAR SING FUCKING SING XD
(Oops, I ranted a little.)
Remember how I'm judgy? Yep.
I think we have that in common. Also you said 'judgy'. Buffy fan? :D
Also that thing about Comic Con is actually making me a little bit glad I can't go because i live on the other side of the world. XD It would be such a crazy shit fight. (I can't go to the Glee convention in my own city though, my creys ;___;).
My weekend: I have work both mornings, Saturday I'm meeting up with some Muse fans and we're going for delicious Max Brenner, and Sunday I will try to do holiday homework/mostly procrastinate.
Hope you have a lovely time ignoring IRL people :)
Re: Lengthy :P
Date: 2011-07-08 01:48 pm (UTC)I did laugh when the fangirls got completely confused how to keep up to Stutter when the band kicked in halfway through the song and changed the pace. Why. It's almost like he's performing live or something. During The Coolest Girl, he was just about to start and everyone wetn crazy. He actually stopped and said bemused, "Really? Four notes in?"
Plus they sang over Lauren Lopez (who sings in a deeper voice when she's doing most of Draco's lines so higher-pitched voices drowned her out completely) and I will never forgive them for that. She was there for TWO songs. Let me hear her. I adore her and she doesn't DO live performances on her own.
I gotta respect Naya Rivera for being like, you need to quiet down so I can hear myself sing when she and Darren sang together on Valerie.
I don't hate sing-alongs during concerts either! That's the thing. There's levels though - the gentle singing along when you're grooving to the music, the crowd getting into it during a big number and going wild (and/or the performer encouraging it), and what happens when people go batshit and maintain a shrieking level throughout the performance.
I am so fucking glad I went to see Charlene Kaye perform on Easter since Darren was there and even with a less than stellar audio system, I have heard him sing live on Dress and Tie without being drowned out by unending screams. For all that people bash on him being on Glee (people who think he's selling out, people who don't like on Glee 'cause he's ruining everything, lol whatever), I think him working on the show had made him improve astoundingly on his vocals. He's made a couple of critical comments about his voice in the past (how he wishes a classically trained tenor could sing on "To Have a Home" since he had difficulty sustaining the big note at the end) and honestly? I'm amazed by how he sings now compared to last year. Huge improvement.
By the way, yeah, BtVS is my first fandom I was actively involved in.
Re: Lengthy :P
Date: 2011-07-12 06:08 am (UTC)Ugh, I saw all those videos you mentioned, it's so fucking annoying. And Don't You would've been so BEAUTIFUL without them screeching along!
And oh god I felt so bad for Lauren, because she may as well not have been there for all anyone was listening ;__;
I love that he now calls people out on it a little bit (like with Coolest Girl, and then in Teenage Dream in London). Because it's only fair to him.

Yup, I concur totally and completely. :)
Because the opposite end of the spectrum is when you're at a gig and everyone's completely SILENT and no one sings or does anything at all, even when encouraged too--I've been to so many gigs like that (last one was Cold War Kids), where all the hipsters just stand there and 'look cool'. No one cheers or joins in and it's equally dumb.
There needs to be balance. People need to learn concert etiquette XD
And it also depends on the venue--whether you're at a small venue, where maybe the sound quality's not as good, or you're in an arena, or a festival, there are always correct ways to behave.
Maybe we should just book private gigs with just the two of us, and THEN we can enjoy them without people ruining it XD
I'm so jealous of you seeing Charlene! She's lkdsgjalskjdglas amazing. (And gorgeous, hnnnng).
And I totally agree, he's definitely improved on his singing, especially singing live, since Glee. I'm so proud of his little self ^_^
Oh yay! The Buffy fandom's really quite awesome, though I haven't been that actively involved yet.
(Replying to your 2nd comment here too :P)
The Doctor Who fans vs. SPN vs. Glee. Pink wayfarers will be crushed underfoot. Sonic screwdrivers shall be wielded like weapons. SPN slashers will lol at the baby Glee slashers.
That has the potential to be the funniest thing ever, and also to kill so many people XD And start so many ship wars/fandom wars/tumblr wars. Hoooo damn, I'm excited for it now XD
Maybe he'll announce that Kurt will get Blaine pregnant. Is the world ready for Mpreg?
THAT MUST BE THE CONTROVERSIAL STORYLINE RYAN MENTIONED. IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. :O
Oh gosh, Darren and Misha interacting would explode my whole brain (and possibly ovaries as well :/)

Date: 2011-07-08 02:01 pm (UTC)Comic Con has enormous potential to be such a fucked up mess. The Doctor Who fans vs. SPN vs. Glee. Pink wayfarers will be crushed underfoot. Sonic screwdrivers shall be wielded like weapons. SPN slashers will lol at the baby Glee slashers.
I expect that there will be tumblr fights nonstop especially when Ryan Murphy trolls the fuck out of the fans by shooting his mouth off. Maybe he'll announce that Kurt will get Blaine pregnant. Is the world ready for Mpreg?
I only hope that Darren does show up with some awesome beard growth. I know he's doing Leakycon for a day but he's not been announced for Comic Con. If he does attend, I truly hope Misha Collins attempts to steal him by convincing him he's found a real teddy bear picnic.
