I finally figured out the title to that het (or POSSIBLY gen) fic I've been working on for the last couple of weeks. That shall be neatly filed under "progress" in the assorted notes within my poor addled brain.

Reading the, er, lengthy discussions about To Warn or Not To Warn is kind of bumming me out. There are scattershot thoughts but none really of interest. It does make me think about how I've approached using warnings in my own fic and whether I've done a sufficient job when approaching darker subject matter.

Moving on, a familiar meme wherein I tell you that you're analyzing the media from the wrong perspective and that my thoughts are the only ones that are correct and if you dare question me, I shall judge you forever and ever, amen.

Name a fandom, and I'll give you the scoop on at least three of my unpopular opinions related to that fandom.

I have more than three so these are just first three that came to mind:

1. Season Four is the best season of SPN, as far as themes and structures go and is the most enjoyable to marathon when watching for the story arc.
2. I don't ship Sam and Dean, really at all, but their fucked up dynamic is interesting. I think that they need to be separate more and for all the bitching about zomg breaking up the OTP, they really were together TOO much in S4 for me to buy that they still weren't each other's sun and the moon and everything to each other.
3. It is not the most well written show ever. I like it in spite and because of the flaws, it's really cute watching SPN flail around and try to work in really heavy thematic elements and fall flat on its face.

Interesting! I would have to rewatch season 4 to see about it's themes and structures, but I think I'll always like 1 and 2 best - but that's probably largely because I'm in it for the winchester family tragedy and am less interested in the whole heaven and hell thing.

I think I like more standalones in S1 & S2 but I can't really marathon it as a whole because there are parts where it really drags. I say that as someone who watched S1 over a weekend since I came late to the party and all.

See, I hated the dramallamas with the demons in S3 (I despised the episode Sin City so fucking much) but once Castiel popped up in S4 to start up the Heaven/Hell war, I was pretty much stokked since I expected Heaven to kind of suck at the whole fighting evil thing. I like that Kripke's shamelessly stealing from the Good Omens playbook where the "good" guys (angels) want the Apocalypse to happen.

I didn't realize how well everything fell into place until I marathoned almost half the season when my friend elrina753 came by for a visit (she usually tends to be very far behind due to the nature of her job). And really, the storyline held together better than the mess of the Psychic Kids story. The long con of Uriel and Ruby, man, those were great to watch over again.

Hmmm, unpopular thoughts about HP.

1. I still don't get Harry/Draco (except in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince but prior to that, I did not get why anyone thought there was anything *there*). Draco, is in fact, a character completely unworthy of the adoration that was thrown his way in fandom.
2. Slytherins are not, no matter how many times people tried to convince me otherwise, awesome.
3. Ron Weasley rocks.

Re the P.S.: it was a bandom story posted where the author apparently didn't warn for dub-con, was asked to add a warning, apparently did a warning, and then many people began weighing in on their own opinions on using warnings, spreading awkwardness all around.

1. I also do not get Harry/Draco. Though the Draco actor is getting better looking, when he isn't sneering. But Draco is all about the sneer.

2. I think Buffy should have been single--and happily single--for a much longer time in her "college" years. This includes having casual relationships.
3. There continue to be so many problematic things about Willow-as-lesbian (not to mention as-a-witch) and it perplexes me to this day why she couldn't have been bisexual.

1. I'm totally okay with John sleeping with women who aren't Aeryn.
