I often don't put things into my stories that I'm thinking about because I can easily drag a story down in the details. But the ideas are most certainly there. And besides paging through my tags, here is my shiny compilation of all my fic in a pretty post. I think everything's current except maaaaybe the last Ben Has 2 Dads vignette hasn't been added yet.

2. Her mother's obsession with playing this perfect role in society, always being the perfect PTA mom doesn't make Lydia bitter or anything. If anything it's a lot easier to hide from her mother the knot of worry that's tight in her chest, that she's somehow going to disappoint her mother by revealing she's bisexual.
3. One day in Manhattan, in one of those dead hours of the night when she's working on pastries for the next day, she sees Sam on the street, just like that, standing there as though he's not a mirage or some trick of light. She would have called out to him, tried to confirm that it was exactly as amazing as it was when he'd begged to touch her, when he'd been so surprised that she'd wanted him so badly. But she doesn't because she knows that what she had wasn't meant to ever last. She watches him go and is happy that somehow she got a precious part of him even if she has no idea if he remembers her. But she's pretty damn sure he does.

Date: 2008-07-10 07:47 pm (UTC)1. So maybe Jared didn't accidentally knock Jensen down. Maybe he'd noticed Jensen passing by his store a few times and when luck would have it (because he's pretty sure it was luck that made it happen), the shoplifter made his move and decided to run past that really hot guy Jared had not been creepily staring at for quite some time.
2. He didn't really need to have Jensen run his business out of Jared's storefront but he couldn't think of any other excuse to see Jensen all the time.
3. He actually didn't come up with J2 on his own. His ex Sandy suggested it when she'd met Jensen one day, when Jensen had clapped Jared on the back and joked about letting someone like her get away and called him Big J and Sandy had smiled kindly. Then said to him, "Jensen, huh? You're thinking of two Js together, babe?" And Jared had lamely muttered something about J2 and he'd gotten to thinking about it and wondering how hell he was ever gonna manage to make Jensen notice how much Jared wanted him there with him. And how he really just wanted the whole world to know and man, if Jensen accepted maybe that would mean he'd have a shot.

It's why Stef is like a good beta for me because I just want to post it and be done with it, if I sit on a story it never gets posted or I just rip it apart and then I can't bear to look at the final product. I have enough of a raging ego to delude myself into loving it when I first post but the despair sets after that grace period and I just get annoyed with my writing cliches.

Date: 2008-07-10 08:02 pm (UTC)And see, I... don't actually use a beta, HAHAHAH. So I have to edit it all myself which generally takes a few passes, and I HAVE TO sit on it for a while or I won't see the typos and stuff. Which I often miss anyway but that's another story.
This all being stuff I used to do when, you know, I used to write and stuff. :P Notsomuch an issue anymore!

I do like someone to read over my stuff now, i've gotten so used to, but in some one-offs, I won't use a beta. Still, a beta helps my drunken pirate rambles, although there's still a lot of stream-of-consciousness bullshit going on.
Well you do write now but for like nonfandom things. :-P Which is different but still writing of some sort.

1. Before Ben:
Dean doesn't think it's being unfaithful when he's out fucking other girls. Because Sam is a whole 'nother level of something that he doesn't even want to fucking explore and hey, it's open for the both of 'em so he doesn't think about that flash in Sam's eyes--like pain--and how when he's kissing a girl, mouth soft and slick under his, it's not right 'cause it's not Sam. And he doesn't even realize it until they're holed up a miserable little town out in the Appalachian region, but it's been over a year since he's stepped out on Sam and he doesn't miss it one bit. So he gets wasted and fucks a random girl and tries not to wonder why the hell he's thinking he's trying to ruin a good thing. Sam doesn't say a word one way or the other.
2. After Ben:
He wants Ben to call him Dad but if Ben starts doing that, Dean's never gonna let him go when he expects Ben'll finally grow up and realize what a messs he has for a father. Sam might say otherwise but Dean knows all too well that everyone is gonna leave him and he'll be damned if he lets himself ever forget that. Every time Ben calls him Dean, it's a reminder, a barrier, and he'll keep that because there's too much in his heart for this heart and it terrifies him. No way he's gonna slip up and let the kid know he's had Dean since the moment he and Dean ate some of Ben's birthday cake when he was an eight year old possibility of something great and now he's a 16 year old definite something awesome.
3. After Ben:
He almost says it. They're at Ben's high school graduation, back in Cicero, one huge favor for Lisa, Ben's last year of school in his home district, and Ben's holding his diploma. Lisa's holding on to the arm of her husband, Brian, and her eyes are shining bright. And Sam? Sam's right by Dean's side and they're watching their kid, all of 'em, even Brian, who knows almost as much about cars as Dean does, and keeps the GTO from falling apart despite Ben's tendency to take over whenever he has a clear stretch of time, racing god know's what (fine, Dean knows but he ain't telling). It's a hot day and there's sweat beading on Sam's forehead and he looks stupid, wearing a suit but hey he lost the bet with Ben and barely escaped having to wear a top hat too. Dean puts a hand on Sam's knee and Sam turns to him, surprised, and Dean almost says it, finally, meaning it, I love you but he kills the need to finally let it go, what's always been obvious, what he hasn't dared to say. Instead he says, "Man, nothing gets me hotter than a monocle, Sammy." And Sam raises his eyebrow and the monocle falls and it's almost the best thing ever.
What is the best thing ever is that Ben sees it falling and right up on stage, in front of proud parents and all his classmates, lets out a great whooping cry which Dean joins in on, 'cause there's nothing better than this.
