Cool thing happening this Sunday:

[livejournal.com profile] farscaperewatch

In celebration of Farscape's ten year anniversary (TEN YEARS? WTF I feel old. Plz to ignore I was a teenager during much of Farscape's run), this community will be watching the show every Sunday, episode-by-episode. It's also a great way if you've never seen the show, to catch on. There'll be a spoiler free (aww) thread for newbies and then a thread for those of us who know what happens at the end of the tunnel. :D

Farscape will always be my boo. <3 Honestly had I not found Dean Winchester to have a John Crichton-esque attitude, I probably wouldn't have become so hooked to Supernatural during that infamous weekend in 2006 where I finally gave in and fell for SPN.

So. Go check out the community. I need to dip into the warm waters of nostalgia.

Good times. <3

Remember when *I* started watching Farscape and bothered you everyday to tell me about the Two Johns thing and you wouldn't!? We are getting very, very old.

I've always wanted to watch Farscape, but never had a chance. PERHAPS THIS IS DESTINY. Now, if I can just find the episodes with such short notice...

Ahem, I promise you that you'll find the episodes. ;-)

through other means if necessary!

I just found out about this a few days ago and I am so excited about it. I missed most of the fandom because I never had cable 'til . . . well, 'til after the broadcast towers on the Twin Towers went out and, um, in all the stress of that time I needed my Buffy and Angel fix so I finally gave in and got cable.

Which meant I came to Farscape *late*. But I love and adore it in a way I love and adore few other things, and I can't wait to watch it with other people.

I reacted to the same events by...never getting cable, but buying Angel S5 on DVD because it had been completely unwatchable on broadcast!

I could not have borne the delay! I remember going to a friend's house to watch the first ep of Angel that season -- it and Buffy must have been on different networks by then -- and it made me crazy not to be able to tape it. (Though she kindly copied hers for me later on.)

Friends, Romans, Countrymen

I *like* AtS but I don't *love* it and, after having seen some other Tim Minear projects (Wonderfalls, the pilot of The Inside) I'm beginning to think that Moar Minear = Less Enthusiasm from my POV.

Buffy and Angel (the shows as a unit, not the 'ship) was my all-consuming passion at that time.

I had a really good time in the fandom but I wasn't extensively involved. I was more active in Buffy/Angel fandom.

I'm so happy to hear that you loved it even coming in late. One of the frustrating/awesome things about the show is how it builds on itself but it's sometimes a bit complicated when jumping in without having all the backstory. It'll be so exciting hearing about your thoughts about the show!

I actually remember meeting some friends for dinner *after* a Farscape con at a hotel near Penn Station that had a lot of the actors. It was at the end and nobody was taking tickets so I wandered into the auditorium to find them, since things were running late. Considering I was in the same room with Ben Browder and Claudia Black, I was cheerfully indifferent in those days. ;-)

I saw things really out of order. I was somehow watching new eps and SciFi was doing reruns every day at 6 or 7, and I started buying (individua!) DVDs. But in some ways I think I was fortunate. My husband (who was not yet then my husband) started watching from the beginning and some of the dud episodes in s. 1 caused him to lose interest, and he didn't really pick it up again 'til the end of s. 1. I wonder if I would have drifted away. The first one I saw was the one with the "duplicates" eating their own ship and the second John being made. I had no idea what was going on, but I knew it was *good*! Then I started buying the American DVDs, but they were coming out too slowly, so I picked up the later seasons on trips to England, during M.'s and my transatlantic courtship.

I can't believe it's been ten years. I feel like Jeremy Piven in Grosse Point Blank. "TEN YEARS? Ten years. TEN. YEAAAAAARS."
