So basically I have spent every day watching Regional Holiday Music because when Community rips on Glee it is the most beautiful thing ever.

This morning I had Baby Boomer Santa and Annie's song (is it called Tell Me How To Understand Christmas or what?) stuck in my head and I was on my best behavior not to sing out loud boop de boop SEX or how Santa smoked a lot of acid. Good thing I'm fighting off a cold so talking in general is a bad idea.

All the songs were so, so good man. And they really did have better consistency, callbacks to canon events, and just awesome characterization. The Dean's disappointed "Oh, Britta's in this?" was amazing.

PLUS THEY HAD A BRAD. AND EVERYONE ACKNOWLEDGED HIM.

You guys, I think I'm ready for regionals.

and then two of my favorite glee castmembers tweeted about the episode today and everything was even better.

Other things: I think people who grew up enjoying The Muppets should go see the latest movie. I went for a second time with my sister Johnny and my mom, as they hadn't seen it yet. Had such a good time and it was a great followup from our November Disney trip, since IMHO, the Muppets 3D movie at Hollywood Studios is still one of the best 3D movies out there and it's over ten years old (if not fifteen).

Ooh, my not-so-secret love affair with Once Upon a Time continues!

So, Graham is dead for realsies? Huh. Well, congrats to the show for Going There, sucks because holy shit, did his "actual" fairy tale life suck beyond the telling, and he never got a real chance to have a non-spellbound good life.

This episode made me want more backstory on Snow White. What the hell kind of secret did she betray?

I'm wondering if they're going to tie in Rumplestilskin's original story with Regina's, making her the poor miller's daughter of yore, and that she was involved in the great baby swaps and maybe DID actually give up a baby or something. Hmm. Oh, well, gotta wait until JANUARY to find out what happens next.

holy crap, Annie's song made me prostrate with laughter. So damn funny. I am TOTALLY psyched about Regionals.

I'm glad to hear someone I would trust about The Muppets -I was worried.

Annie's song was such a perfect send up of sexified sultry singing that I can't help but listen to it and start cackling. YOU SMARTIE, ME DUMB. Britta's Christmas Song in her heart is pretty great too. ME SO CHRISTMAS ME SO MERRY.

I honestly went into the Muppets knowing NOTHING about it. I didn't even know who worked on it besides Jason Segel and Amy Adams. During one particular song, I thought it reminded me of my favorite comedy-songwriters Flight of the Conchords only to find out that Bret McKenzie was the music supervisor of the film. If you like FotC music, it really continues that trend of clever, playful lyrics set to charming music. I hate spoiling so I'll refrain from mentioning one of my favorite lyrics and I'll just it was very inspired and rhymed glee very smartly in a way that made me smile. It really honored the past Muppet movies and was a great little film in its own right. Plus the cameos they have are pretty awesome.

HI I ALSO NOTICED YOU POSTED YOUR FIC. I SHALL BE READING WHEN I AM OUT OF WORK. :D :D :D

WAIT WAIT BRET MCKENZIE WORKED ON THIS?! Damn, Regala, that's all you had to say! Oh, how I love FotC. Massive crush on Jermaine (it's the lips and the curls, why yes, I have a type.) Oh, I can't wait for the holiday break to start so I can rally the fam to see it. \o/

HOORAY, I hope you enjoy it. *beatific grin*

Yes, he was in charge of the music! There's one song that was so FotC it HURT and after I conferred with [livejournal.com profile] ignited (since she went with me opening weekend), I realized it was Bret's work. So the music is all great.

Oh, dear Jermaine. I adored them both but I thought Jermaine was sexier where Bret is more boyish.

I EXPECT I SHALL ENJOY IT. And then be all anxious to read it all in one go, at least it's not a WIP. (right? RIGHT?)

...and it's never looked better on you *porn bass

NO. It is not a WiP. I am allergic to those. And feel free to wait until there's more, I will not be offended. :)

I REMOVE MY CLOTHES VERY VERY CLUMSILY

Yay for non-WIPs! I try to write one-shots if I'm writing a 'verse since I feel guilty when I inevitably get blocked.

YUM, HE'S VERY SEXY

I'm still trying to figure out if Graham's Dead For Really Realz too. Because I figured they were setting him up as a love interest episodes ago, and if they immediately offed him that's...actually kind of hilarious.

Yeah, I figured from the pilot, he was the inevitable love interest, but then they had him sleeping with Regina and Emma seemed pretty grossed out by it in the last ep so I thought maybe not and then, he gets to remember his actual life and got his "real" heart crushed so...huh.

The Snow White/Prince Charming romantic dilemma is far more interesting anyways.

It's true. Somehow, Snow White has managed to end up one of the most interesting characters on the show (and her Fairy Tale segments tend to be the only ones I like). Go figure.

I am still boggled by this. I hated Snow White so much as a kid that I purposely destroyed a Snow White figurine music box because I hated her voice that much. (I was like 5 at the time.) Then I went as the Evil Queen for Halloween several times while in middle school because I too wanted to see Snow White dead. Cut to this series and I'm like, that's great, Graham, you're feverish and sad, can I get back to Snow White awesomely writing out her death letter because she knows she doomed or how her Storybrook version is having a one night stand because fuck it, she's young and she's not going to moon over a married dude who (as far as she knows) totally strung her along?

Why did you hate Snow White as a kid?

The "classic" Disney movies were being re-released to theaters in the 80s and I vividly remember going to see Snow White as a kid and haaaaaaaating the voice of Snow White. The singing especially. And because I was pretty much the baby of the family at the time (I was the first born of my siblings and cousins), I was given tons of Disney gifts, especially Snow White stuff.

I was also the kid who would throw away babydoll toys too. (Except for my Cabbage Patch doll, because she had red hair like me and didn't look like a baby.)

Snow White is still my least favorite Princess. I was most attached to Ariel (redhead sisterhood, yo, plus A Part of Your World is flawless) and Belle.

Totally valid! I remember seeing an interview years ago with the woman who performed the vocals, and she sounded just like that in her real life, too (iirc) like she was on helium.

Apparently we're going to learn what the secret was.

Ha, I figure we will, but man, it's so not going to live up to "plot to marry and then murder Snow's dad and set up events to kill off Snow as well" if it's like, "this one time, she told everyone I wasn't the fairest of them all."

I don't think I saw Graham as the love interest potential for Emma, because weren't we shown early on that he was the Mayor's boytoy? Oh, and let's add to Evil Queen crimes: murder, patricidal murder, attempted assassination, coercion, blackmail, corruption and now rape.

Her choice of Graham for an assassin seems really weird, if she was, as she said, looking for someone heartless, because he clearly had too much heart and was openly damaged.

While I find Mary Margaret dull as sin and Emma fairly bland, Regina is actually the most interesting of the lot. The most comparable figures are Mele-On Grayza and Servalan, but already I think Regina is better-written than the former, and not yet up speed with the latter, although I would be very afraid to have all three ladies in one room.

Well I mean, I figured he and the Mayor had an agreement (in that she was able to order him around and I figured he was the Huntsman because it made sense). But the official reveal wasn't until the previous episode and I could have bought a romance between the loyal Sheriff trying to do right even in light of Regina's control and willful Emma of the Determined Stompy Walk.

I think the show really didn't explain it well but I think he was perfect because he didn't value human life, as he didn't shed a tear over their deaths, it was animals he cared about. But it totally wasn't clear and yep, he's exactly the kind of dude to offer mercy to Snow White.

I really like Mary Margaret actually! She kind of breaks some of the conventions of her character: she rightfully gets pissed at David when he shows up to give her the "I'm honorable, I must try to do right by my wife" speech and she hooks up with Dr. Whale without angsting about it, but then I am biased, I really do like that actress, and her Snow White is so engaging, it spills over to her Storybrook counterpart.

I don't deny that Regina is fascinating and I enjoy her quite a lot however I still think Rumplestilskin is going to be the real baddie until we get introduced to another villainous character later on in the series.
